Street Rankings 2007 for the North East

Today, property website Mouseprice.com, reveals the 2007 property rich list, showing that the most expensive street in the North East is Gubeon Wood, NE61. These figures are calculated from the actual sold prices as recorded by HM Land Registry, and show the average value of a Gubeon Wood property being £1,056,940.

Gubeon Wood is the only residential street in the North East where the average house price reaches over £1,000,000. However, Runnymede Road (NE20), Grove Park Square (NE3) and Castleton Grove (NE2) all average at over three quarters of a million pounds.

The most expensive streets and areas in the North East of England predominantly lie to the north of Newcastle city centre. NE20 is the most expensive postcode district in general, with an average property price of £352,879 and 14 of the top most expensive 100 streets being located here. Like NE61, home of the most expensive street in the North East, NE20 is a suburb located to the Northeast of Newcastle city centre. Close by is NE3, which also accounts for a large number of the region’s most expensive streets, with 14 of the top 100. The west of the city (particularly postcode areas such as NE41, NE43, NE44 and NE46) also qualify as commuter areas, and account for a significant proportion of the North East’s most expensive streets.

Moving away from Newcastle suburbs to examine other expensive streets in the North East, we find a number of expensive streets in the postcode district of TS22 – a similarly popular commuter district. Located to the west of Hartlepool and north of Middlesbrough, it accounts for 11% of the top 100 most expensive streets in the area.
