Street Rankings 2007 for the East of England

The Mouseprice.com Annual Street Rankings 2007, released today, reveals the most expensive street in the East of England as Park Avenue South, Harpenden, with an average price of £1,881,283. This is impressive, but with over three quarters of the 100 most expensive streets in the East of England coming in with average prices of over a million pounds, Park Avenue South is by no means alone.

At number 3 in the Rankings for 2007, with an average value of £1.7million is Astons Road, recently dubbed “Millionaires Row for Indians”. It is rumoured that amongst the Indian community, the mention of Astons Road provides instant status, opening doors in residents’ romantic and business lives. Many new residents are not content until they have added every possible luxury, such that many of these properties now have swimming pools and marble staircases!

The most expensive street, Park Avenue South, is located in AL5, the postcode district which contains 13 of the top 100 most expensive streets in the region, and exemplifies the national pattern of city suburbs reaching ever higher prices. AL5 makes the perfect suburb – lying to the north of St. Albans, Hemel Hempstead, the M25 and London. It is also within easy reach of London Luton airport, making it the perfect suburban retreat for the city executive.

Other Postcode Districts with a high proportion of streets in the Top 100 most expensive streets for the East of England include WD3, CM13 and WD7. WD7 is, overall, the most expensive postcode district, with a property in WD7 costing, on average, £463,292. Like AL5, WD7 lies to the north of London, with easy access to the M25 and M1.
